To make the implementation of emission reduction measures more profitable for the NOx Fund's affiliated enterprises, the following changes are being made to the support scheme:
- Support for engine replacement is being reintroduced, but the support requires a Tier III-certified engine with a requirement for use along the entire Norwegian coastline.
- The support rate is being increased from NOK 600/kg to NOK 900/kg NOx reduced.
- The maximum support share is being reduced from 70% to 60%.
- An improved support option is being introduced for vessels with measures that have previously significantly reduced the NOx factor. This is particularly relevant for those who already have SCR systems and wish to implement new measures.
- Deadlines for implementing measures under new support commitments are set at 31 December 2028.
- Deadlines for entering into contracts in commitment letters will be strictly enforced going forward.
- The maximum amount awarded is limited to NOK 200 million in total per board meeting.
- The maximum support amount per project remains unchanged: NOK 100 million. In addition, we are introducing a limit on the maximum total scope of undecided projects from the same applicant, set at NOK 100 million.
- The changes take effect from and including the next board meeting, on 24 November.
