NOx Agreement Fulfilled with a Strong Margin

NOx Agreement Fulfilled

The Norwegian Environment Agency has concluded in its final assessment that the environmental commitment under the NOx Agreement for 2024–2025 has been met. Total NOx emissions were significantly below the emission ceiling set out in the agreement.

On June 1st 2026, the Norwegian Environment Agency submitted its final assessment of target achievement under the NOx Agreement for the 2024–2025 period. The assessment shows that total NOx emissions from the companies covered by the agreement amounted to 149,979 tonnes, compared with an emission ceiling of 172,510 tonnes. This result means that the environmental commitment set out in the agreement has been fulfilled with a substantial margin.

The NOx Agreement between the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment and the participating industry organisations has been a key instrument in reducing nitrogen oxide emissions from Norwegian industry. The final assessment by the Norwegian Environment Agency confirms that industry as a whole has met its obligations over the two-year period.

For the NOx Fund, its affiliated companies, and industry organisations, this achievement reflects long-term, predictable cooperation with the authorities, together with significant investments in emissions-reduction measures.
