The Ministry of Climate and Environment and the business organizations have extended the NOx Agreement (2018-2025) by two years, so that the effective period expires in 2027. The supplement means that emission ceilings are set for the years 2026-2027, and that the Agreement provides a basis for tax exemption for NOx tax until December 31st, 2027.

The NOx Fund shall ensure that the environmental objectives in the NOx Agreement are met.

- The business sector will undergo major restructuring in the future, and it is important that the work to reduce NOx emissions is seen in connection with the green restructuring, says Minister of Climate and Environment Espen Barth Eide.

- The NOx Agreement is an important environmental Agreement for the business organizations and the affiliated companies. The extension means predictability for the companies. The NOx Fund's support scheme helps to ensure the implementation of important projects which reduce NOx emissions in Norway, says CEO Ole Erik Almlid in NHO

- We have worked for a long time to get an extension of the Agreement, and it is important for us to be able to provide financial support for large emission reduction projects which have been delayed until after 2025, says general manager of the NOx Fund Tommy Johnsen. He adds that the green transition requires long-term work and stable, predictable framework conditions. The extension of the NOx Agreement with two years supports this.
